Assistant Restaurant Manager (Daytime Only) – Brick Kiln Garden Centre Restaurant
Location: Merston, Chichester
Salary: £29,000 to £32,000, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, daytime shifts only; weekends on a rota basis
Brick Kiln Garden Centre Restaurant is looking for an experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team in a stable, long-term role.
The Garden Restaurant within Brick Kiln Garden Centre is a light and airy space with a recently renovated, partially open kitchen. We serve simple, honest food made from scratch daily in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
About the Role
We’re looking for a calm, reliable and hands-on Assistant Manager who can help maintain high standards of service, support the team and keep the restaurant running smoothly.
Working closely with the Restaurant Manager, you will help lead the front-of-house team, oversee day-to-day service and ensure every customer receives a warm and professional welcome.
This is an ideal role for an experienced hospitality supervisor or assistant manager who enjoys the energy of a busy restaurant but wants a better work-life balance than most hospitality roles offer.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Restaurant Manager with the smooth day-to-day running of the restaurant
- Lead shifts and help the team deliver friendly, efficient and consistent service
- Maintain high standards of customer service, cleanliness and presentation
- Brief, support and motivate team members throughout service
- Help train and develop new and existing members of the team
- Work closely with the kitchen to maintain good communication and an efficient service
- Respond professionally to customer queries and resolve issues when they arise
- Support rotas, stock control and other routine administrative duties as required
- Ensure food hygiene, health and safety, and company procedures are followed
- Take responsibility for the restaurant in the Restaurant Manager’s absence
What We’re Looking For
Reliability and consistency come first: you’ll be organised, approachable, calm under pressure and willing to lead from the front.
- Previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Restaurant Supervisor or in a similar hospitality management role
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- A warm, confident and customer-focused approach
- The ability to organise a team and maintain standards during busy periods
- A good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety, and restaurant operations
- A flexible, team-first attitude with the ability to step in wherever needed
- Pride in delivering excellent food, service and customer experiences
