Housing Officer – Kent & Essex Region

Contract: 10 Week Temporary Contract (with possibility of extension)

Pay Rate: PAYE £19.23 per hour
We're recruiting a Housing Officer to join Housing's Resident Services South team. This is a frontline role, ideal for someone empathetic, proactive, and confident managing complex housing issues while supporting residents in their homes and communities.
About the Role
As a Housing Officer, you'll provide effective housing management services across Kent and Essex, supporting tenants throughout their tenancy. You'll deliver excellent housing advice, resolve issues proactively, and ensure residents feel safe and supported in their homes.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing housing management services within legal and regulatory frameworks
- Settling residents into new homes and conducting regular tenancy visits
- Carrying out welfare checks, safeguarding referrals, and case monitoring
- Managing complex tenancy cases through to resolution
- Conducting pre-void inspections, viewings, and supporting lettings turnaround
- Handling nuisance issues and supporting ASB case management
- Preparing contracts, notices, and legal papers for tenancy breaches
- Attending court and multi-agency partnership meetings
- Supporting safeguarding obligations and tenancy fraud investigations
- Conducting tenancy audits and neighbourhood inspections
- Promoting resident involvement and participation
- Assisting income management teams to maximise rental income
- Collaborating with colleagues to improve neighbourhood satisfaction and service delivery
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone resilient, professional, and committed to supporting residents. You'll ideally have:
- Experience in housing management, including nuisance/harassment cases
- Knowledge of tenancy enforcement and relevant legislation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional curiosity to identify residents' support needs
- Ability to meet targets, prioritise workloads, and work under pressure
- Effective negotiation and influencing skills
- IT proficiency and adaptability to multiple systems
- Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
