We are currently seeking a diligent and proactive Bookkeeper to join our team in Castle Donington.
We are looking for an organised and detail‑focused Bookkeeper to support our accountancy practice. The successful candidate will take responsibility for maintaining accurate financial records, handling accounts payable, and ensuring our accounting processes run smoothly. This position is an excellent opportunity to apply your bookkeeping skills in a dynamic, client‑centric environment, contributing to the financial stability and compliance of our clients. Experience with recognised accounting software is essential, and knowledge of platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero will be highly beneficial.
Key Accountabilities
- Client Bookkeeping & Financial Processing
- Process financial data accurately using cloud accounting software and supporting systems including Dext.
- Complete bank reconciliations and balance sheet control account reconciliations.
- Maintain sales and purchase ledgers for allocated clients.
- Support the preparation of management accounts and financial reporting information.
- Prepare VAT returns accurately and within required deadlines.
- Prepare CIS returns where applicable.
- Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with clients.
- Respond to client queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Support clients with bookkeeping and accounting process queries where appropriate.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service aligned to company expectations and values.
Operational Support
- Support the Head of Business Services with financial administration tasks where required.
- Maintain organised and accurate records across multiple client accounts.
- Prioritise workload effectively to manage competing deadlines.
- Escalate concerns, discrepancies or risks appropriately.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Experience using Xero and cloud accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational and workload management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Strong communication and client service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Desirable
- Experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
- AAT qualification or working towards qualification.
- Knowledge of VAT return preparation.
- Experience with CIS returns.
- Exposure to credit control, purchase ledger or payroll functions.
- Experience using Dext or similar document processing software.
