Sigma Stone is a fast-growing, quality-driven worktop manufacturer specialising in quartz, granite, and porcelain surfaces. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional craftsmanship, reliability, and service to our clients.
We’re looking for a hands-on Production Manager to lead our factory team and take ownership of day-to-day operations, ensuring a smooth, efficient workflow from templating through to installation.
The Role
As Production Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the factory floor, managing the production team, and ensuring all jobs are completed on time, to specification, and ready for installation. You’ll act as the key link between the factory, office, and installation teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and support the factory team, setting clear priorities and maintaining high standards of performance, conduct and safety.
- Identify bottlenecks, delays and inefficiencies in production, then implement practical solutions to keep work moving.
- Work closely with the office team to produce a clear weekly workload plan and production schedule.
- Allocate work according to skills, capacity and deadlines, while monitoring progress throughout the week.
- Maintain robust quality-control checks at key stages of production and ensure finished work meets company standards.
- Create, manage and review a planned factory maintenance schedule for machinery, tools and the working environment.
- Train, coach and upskill team members, including onboarding new starters and identifying development needs.
- Ensure production processes and systems are followed consistently, with accurate records and clear reporting.
- Resolve day-to-day production issues promptly and communicate changes or risks to the relevant teams.
- Promote a clean, organised and efficient workshop with a strong focus on safe working practices and continuous improvement.
- Manage materials, offcuts, and stock efficiently
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience supervising or managing a production, manufacturing, fabrication or workshop team.
- Strong planning, delegation and time-management skills, with the ability to balance changing priorities.
- A practical approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Clear verbal and written communication, with the confidence to work across factory and office teams.
- Experience of quality control, staff training and planned maintenance is desirable.
- Able to set expectations, make decisions and hold standards without losing the respect of the team.
- Naturally creates structure, follows processes and uses planning tools to improve consistency.
- Listens well, understands people and handles challenges in a calm, constructive way.
- Spots quality issues, missed steps and potential problems before they affect the customer or schedule.
- Stone, granite, quartz, porcelain, construction or a related manufacturing background would be an advantage, but is not essential.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary based on experience
- A key leadership role within a growing business
- Supportive team environment
- Opportunity to shape and improve factory processes
