We're looking for a creative, organised and enthusiastic Activities Coordinator to lead our activities programme and create opportunities for residents to stay connected with their local community.
From coffee mornings and garden centres to scenic drives, lunches out, local attractions and seasonal events, we want someone who is passionate about planning regular weekly outings that give residents new experiences, maintain community connections and create lasting memories.
As an independent charitable care home, we believe activities are an essential part of everyday life—not an optional extra. You'll have the opportunity to bring fresh ideas, organise exciting events and develop a varied programme that reflects our residents' interests, hobbies and life experiences.
About the Role
Working alongside our Activities Assistant and wider care team, you'll lead the planning and delivery of a vibrant activities programme both within the home and out in the local community.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering a varied programme of meaningful group and one-to-one activities.
- Planning and organising weekly outings for residents, including cafés, garden centres, shopping trips, places of interest, community events and seasonal excursions.
- Driving the home's minibus (where appropriate) or coordinating transport arrangements for trips.
- Organising seasonal celebrations, entertainers and special events.
- Creating engaging monthly activity calendars.
- Building relationships with local schools, volunteers, entertainers and community organisations.
- Supporting residents to continue enjoying hobbies, interests and experiences that are meaningful to them.
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure activities are person-centred, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.
- Continually developing new ideas to keep the activities programme fresh, engaging and exciting.
About You
We're looking for someone who is energetic, creative and confident in taking the lead.
You'll enjoy getting out into the community, planning memorable experiences and encouraging residents to continue doing the things they love. You're someone who sees possibilities rather than barriers and is happy organising everything from a simple afternoon tea outing to larger seasonal trips.
You'll ideally have experience planning or delivering activities, wellbeing programmes, community engagement or events. This could have been gained in a care home, charity, education, healthcare, hospitality or another people-focused environment.

You'll also need:
- A genuine passion for improving the lives of older people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and planning abilities.
- Confidence using your own initiative.
- A creative and positive approach to problem-solving.
- A full UK driving licence (D1 entitlement would be an advantage for driving our minibus).
Working Hours
This is a part-time position of approximately 30 hours per week, typically worked between 9.00am and 3.00pm on a two-week rota, including shared weekend working on alternate weekends.
Some flexibility will occasionally be required to support outings, seasonal events and special celebrations.
