Start your career in garment decoration
Threada is looking for two enthusiastic Production Apprentices to join our growing production team at our headquarters in Poulton-le-Fylde.
This is a hands-on apprenticeship for someone who wants to learn how custom clothing is produced. You’ll receive full training across our embroidery, garment printing and heat-transfer processes while working towards a Level 2 Manufacturing Apprenticeship.
You don’t need previous experience in garment decoration or manufacturing. We’re more interested in finding people with common sense, a strong work ethic and a genuine willingness to learn.
The role would be particularly well suited to a school or college leaver, or someone at the beginning of their career who wants to develop practical skills and build a long-term future within a growing company.
What you’ll be doing
Working alongside our experienced production team, you’ll learn how to:
- Produce customised clothing orders accurately and efficiently
- Set up and operate commercial embroidery machines
- Prepare and hoop garments for embroidery
- Apply printed designs using industrial heat presses
- Work with heat transfers and DTF printing technology
- Operate and assist with maintaining DTF printers
- Inspect finished garments and complete quality-control checks
- Receive incoming stock and check it against delivery documents
- Pick garments and materials using production pick notes
- Prepare orders for the next stage of production or dispatch
- Keep work areas clean, organised and safe
- Follow production schedules and help the team meet customer deadlines
As your skills and confidence develop, you’ll take on more responsibility and learn how an order moves through the complete production process.
Who we’re looking for
You don’t need to arrive knowing how to operate the machinery. We’ll teach you that.
What matters most is that you:
- Are willing to learn and take feedback on board
- Have good common sense and attention to detail
- Take pride in producing high-quality work
- Are reliable, punctual and ready to contribute
- Can follow instructions and established processes
- Are comfortable working in a busy, hands-on production environment
- Can work independently while also being part of a team
- Have an interest in manufacturing, clothing, printing or customisation
- Want to develop a career rather than simply find a temporary job
GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in English and maths would be desirable, but attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are more important to us.
Working hours
The role is full-time, working 37.5 hours per week.
Our core working hours are:
Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm, with scheduled breaks.
Additional overtime and weekend work may also be available during busy periods.
Pay and benefits
- Starting rate of £8.00 per hour
- Full workplace training
- Level 2 Manufacturing Apprenticeship
- Immediate access to the company health benefit plan
- 28 days’ annual holiday entitlement
- Opportunities for overtime and weekend work
- Support from an experienced production team
- Gym membership
- Genuine opportunities to progress within the business
Career progression
We see apprenticeships as the start of a career, not simply a short-term placement.
After successfully completing the apprenticeship, there may be opportunities to progress into a permanent Production Operative position and develop more advanced skills across embroidery, printing and garment decoration.
As Threada continues to grow, there may also be opportunities to explore other areas of the business or progress into supervisory and leadership positions.
