Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Tutor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to helping students achieve their academic goals. This role involves working closely with young people aged 16-19, providing delivery in Personal Development and Functional Skills in English and Maths.
Duties
- Deliver the Personal Development programme to students alongside Fundamental British Values and the wider curriculum.
- Design and deliver interactive sessions aimed at promoting personal growth as well as delivering accredited qualifications in Occupational Studies and Employability.
- Engagement and Delivery: Deliver Functional Skills Maths and English from Entry level though to Level 2, across vocational programmes.
- Support students undergoing Functional Skills examinations.
- Tailored Support: Customise sessions to address the unique needs of student groups, covering topics such as online safety, sexual violence prevention and Prevent.
- Student Development: Implement student-centered programs emphasising softer outcomes to facilitate positive progression into adulthood.
- Employability Focus: enhance students' work readiness through targeted initiatives and support.
- Support students with targeted work experience and social action projects.
- Liaise with the wider team regarding safeguarding, attendance, progress and achievements.
Qualifications:
- The successful applicant will need to hold a full assessor’s award, TAQA or equivalent and have experience of delivering Functional Skills in English and Maths.
- Teaching qualification at Level 3 or above.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience of classroom delivery and assessment is required.
You must have achieved Grade A*-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths along with strong ICT skills. Organisation skills, and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential and you must also have experience in using electronic portfolios.
Please note that this is not a remote or hybrid role, the successful candidate will be required to work at our centre in Grays.
Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 8.45 - 5.15pm, Fri 8.45 - 2.15pm (37.5 hours per week).
Job Type: Full time - term time only (42 weeks per year)
Salary: from £33,000.00 per year, pro rata.
Pay: £33,000.00 per year
