Fire Proofer - Heysham 2 Power Station
Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Fire Proofer to join the team at Heysham 2.
The work pattern for this position is Monday to Thursday, 37.5 hours per week. This is a permanent position. Start date is pending successful CTC clearance.
The position is paid under NAECI agreements, local labour is required. Pay rate: £23.45 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Install System Seals: Fit penetration seals around structural pipes, electrical cables, and ventilation ductwork.
- Seal Linear Gaps: Apply specialist fire-stopping materials to expansion joints and wall-to-slab deflection zones.
- Erect Cavity Barriers: Install hidden void barriers in ceilings and external rainscreen cladding systems.
- Document Compliance: Use digital logging applications to photograph, tag, and record all completed installations.
- Maintain High Standards: Ensure all site work matches explicit manufacturer specifications and FIRAS standards.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to read detailed architectural drawings and understand fire-resistance ratings.
- Attention to Detail: Precision-focused mindset to guarantee airtight, smoke-tight, and fire-compliant seals.
Key Requirements
- Proven Experience: Minimum 2 years working specifically in passive fire protection.
- FIRAS Competency: Must hold valid FIRAS technician registration or have worked extensively under a FIRAS accredited firm.
- Trade Cards: Valid CSCS card is mandatory; IPAF or PASMA certifications are highly advantageous.
