We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Chef to join our busy pub, offering live-in accommodation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary excellence, strong leadership skills, and a background in hospitality. This role involves overseeing food preparation, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant will play a key role in maintaining the pub’s reputation for excellent food and service.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient food production and service.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to menu specifications and quality standards.
- Manage food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health and hygiene regulations.
- Oversee food presentation, portion control, and waste management to optimise efficiency.
- Assist in menu planning, ingredient sourcing, and stock control.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the kitchen area.
- Support serving staff during busy periods to ensure smooth operation of the pub.
- Monitor kitchen operations during shifts, providing leadership and guidance to team members.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a culinary or kitchen role within a hospitality or restaurant setting.
- Supervising experience is highly desirable, demonstrating leadership capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of food production, preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with front-of-house staff and suppliers.
- Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant environments is preferred.
