About the Role
Brightening Lives is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.
As a Senior Support Worker, you will play an important role in providing high-quality, person-centred care and support to people with complex health and social care needs. You will work alongside Support Workers, Personal Assistants and other members of the wider care team to ensure the people we support receive safe, consistent and compassionate care.
You will lead by example, providing support and guidance to colleagues while ensuring individual care plans, risk assessments and support strategies are followed effectively. You will also help create a positive team environment where everyone feels supported, valued and confident in delivering excellent care.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Support Worker who is ready to take on additional responsibility and develop their leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead by example and deliver high-quality, person-centred care and support.
- Support individuals with complex health and social care needs in their own homes and within the community.
- Ensure care plans and risk assessments are followed and implemented effectively.
- Provide guidance, encouragement and practical support to colleagues during shifts.
- Support new team members with their induction and development.
- Promote dignity, independence, choice and wellbeing at all times.
- Support with medication and other care duties in line with training and company procedures.
- Communicate effectively with families, healthcare professionals and the wider care team.
- Recognise and report changes in health, wellbeing or behaviour.
- Contribute to safeguarding and ensure concerns are appropriately escalated.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records and documentation.
- Promote good infection prevention and control practices.
- Support the Team Leader and Registered Manager with the effective running of the service when required.
- Help maintain a positive culture of teamwork, respect and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is passionate about care and has the confidence to support and guide others.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience supporting people with complex health and/or social care needs.
- Experience as a Senior Support Worker or in a similar role is desirable.
- A strong understanding of person-centred care.
- The confidence to lead and support colleagues on shift.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A caring, patient and proactive approach.
- The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- A commitment to promoting independence, dignity and choice.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility and reliability.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, where required for the role.
