THE ROLE
West Ham United Football Club is seeking an enthusiastic and driven YDP / FP Physiotherapist to join our Academy Football Science & Medicine department.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering elite-standard medical provision across our Academy Schoolboy programme, helping to maximise player availability and support the individual development of young players.
You will work primarily with players aged U9-U16, taking a lead role with U9-U14 players while supporting the U15-U16 age groups.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a multidisciplinary team within a professional football academy environment, contributing to the development of players both on and off the pitch.

Assess, treat and rehabilitate injured players across the U9-U16 age groups, working in line with departmental strategy.

Take a lead role with U9-U14 players and provide support to U15-U16 players.

Provide training, matchday and tournament medical cover for U9-U16s, supporting other age groups when required.

Take a supervisory role on Academy Schoolboy matchdays, including pitchside cover and coordinating EAP and medical provision across fixtures on site.

Work closely with full-time staff to manage and support a strong team of part-time therapists, including organising rotas, delivering appraisals and supporting an internal CPD programme.

Support the organisation and delivery of Youth Development Phase and Foundation Phase MSK/medical screening.

Attend MDT and departmental meetings and ensure relevant information is communicated appropriately.

Collaborate with medical and physical development staff to proactively manage growth-related injuries across the Academy.

Provide regular updates and reports to Academy Management Team members as required.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation on the Kitman Labs Football Intelligence Platform, in line with current guidelines and departmental processes.

Contribute to the ongoing development of departmental policies, ensuring they reflect current research, guidelines and best practice.

Help develop and drive a culture of excellence, with individual player development at the forefront of the medical provision.
️ MATCHDAY COMMITMENT
Matchday working is an important part of the role and will vary depending on phase schedules.
Matchdays will most regularly fall on Sundays, but may also include:
Weekday evenings for cup fixtures
Weekdays during school holidays
✈️ Tours and tournaments
Flexibility around matchday and tournament commitments is therefore essential.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The successful candidate will have:

Chartered Physiotherapist status with current HCPC registration.

Minimum FA ITMMiF qualification; ATMMiF preferred.

Previous experience working with youth athletes.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to different players, colleagues and situations.

Enhanced DBS clearance will be completed by West Ham United FC.
