Help families of children with Additional Learning Needs access the right support at the right time.
We're looking for a Parent Practitioner to work with families of children and young people with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), disabilities and neurodiverse needs across Newport.
This is more than a parenting support role. You'll help families understand the support available to them, identify what matters most, and connect them with the right services. Working closely with education, health, social care and community partners, you'll help families access support sooner, build confidence and improve outcomes for children and young people.
What you'll do
Support families of children and young people with ALN, disabilities and neurodiverse needs.- Build trusted relationships with families through home visits, one-to-one support and group sessions.
- Help families navigate services and access the support that best meets their needs.
- Work closely with the Disabled Children's Team and other partner agencies.
- Deliver evidence-informed parenting interventions and family support.
- Manage a time-limited caseload and maintain accurate records.
- Respond to safeguarding concerns and promote positive outcomes for children and young people.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who holds an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Childcare, Education, Health, Social Care or a related field. You'll also have experience working with children, young people and families, alongside a good understanding of Additional Learning Needs (ALN), disabilities or neurodiversity. You'll be confident building relationships, working with partner agencies and helping families access the support they need.
