Primary Teaching Assistant
A specialist education provision in Kendal is expanding its support team and is looking for a committed Teaching Assistant to work with primary-aged pupils who require additional support in the classroom.
This setting takes a highly individualised approach to learning, recognising that every pupil’s needs and strengths are different. The school supports children with a range of complex needs, including autism, SEMH and associated learning difficulties. Class sizes are small, allowing for a more focused and adaptable approach, with a strong emphasis on building trust, communication and emotional regulation. Staff work closely together to maintain a consistent and supportive environment throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide consistent, hands-on support to pupils throughout the school day
· Build strong, trusting relationships to support engagement and progress
· Assist with the delivery of personalised learning activities
· Support pupils with emotional regulation and transitions between tasks
· Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff

· Can remain calm and patient in challenging situations
· Is confident supporting behaviour and emotional needs
· Brings energy, reliability and a proactive mindset
· Is open to developing their SEND knowledge
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Minimum qualifications required – A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or a background in education or care (NVQ, CACHE, Degree or equivalent)
· Passionate working with young children or adults with disabilities

Pay Rate: £14.60 - £16.90 per hour

8.30am – 3.30pm

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Pay: £14.60-£16.90 per hour
