The Role
As an HGV Driver, you will safely and efficiently deliver goods to customers while providing excellent customer service. You will ensure compliance with road traffic laws, DVSA regulations, company policies, and health & safety standards. You will report to the Transport or Operations Manager.
Skills & Qualifications
- Valid HGV Class C or C+E licence
- Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
- Moffett licence
- Professional HGV driving experience
- Strong understanding of health & safety requirements
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Deliver goods safely, on time, and in line with delivery schedules.
- Verify orders, obtain delivery signatures, and report discrepancies.
- Ensure deliveries are made safely while respecting customer premises.
- Maintain a professional and courteous approach with customers and colleagues.
- Support warehouse duties, including loading, picking, stock checks, and housekeeping when required.
- Report delivery issues and identify customer sales opportunities.
Compliance & Safety
- Drive safely and comply with all road traffic laws, DVSA regulations, drivers' hours, and tachograph rules.
- Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
- Ensure vehicles are loaded safely and securely within legal weight limits.
- Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Report accidents, incidents, damage, fines, and vehicle issues promptly.
- Maintain required licences, medicals, and mandatory training.
- Operate a Moffett forklift where qualified.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and performance standards.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by management.
Standard Terms, Conditions and Benefits
Notice Period - 1 month
Holiday Entitlement - 23 days + Bank Holiday (increasing to 30 days with LOS)
