Are you looking to take the next step in your cyber security career and build your experience across a broad range of security technologies?
We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our Group Security team, helping to protect the AA by maintaining, configuring and continually improving the security controls and services that underpin our technology environment.
This is a hands-on role where you will gain exposure across areas including endpoint security, SIEM, vulnerability management, identity and access, cloud and network security. You do not need to be a specialist across all these areas. We are looking for someone with a good technical foundation who is curious, collaborative and motivated to continue developing. You may already be working within cyber security engineering, or you could be looking to build on relevant experience gained within a SOC, infrastructure, cloud or similar technical environment.
You will join a supportive team where you can contribute from the outset whilst continuing to develop your technical capability. If you enjoy solving problems, learning new technologies and working with others to improve security, this is an opportunity to build a well-rounded career within cyber security.
- Configure, maintain and improve security technologies and controls across areas such as endpoint, cloud, identity, network, email and monitoring environments.
- Support security engineering changes through implementation, testing, handover and ongoing operational support.
- Help investigate security events and technical issues, supporting containment, remediation and continuous improvement where required.
- Contribute to areas such as SIEM and security monitoring, vulnerability management, identity and access controls and secure configuration.
- Use scripting, automation and query tools where appropriate to improve security processes, reporting and control effectiveness.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Security, Infrastructure, Cloud, Networks and wider Technology teams, sharing knowledge and contributing to a positive team culture.
- Practical experience gained within cyber security, a SOC, infrastructure, cloud, networking or another relevant technical environment, with a strong interest in developing further within security engineering.
- A good understanding of core infrastructure and security concepts, which could include networking, operating systems, cloud, identity, endpoint security, vulnerability management or security monitoring.
- Exposure to security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, identity and access controls, cloud security, vulnerability management or secure web and email technologies. We do not expect you to be an expert across all these areas.
- Confidence troubleshooting technical issues and an analytical approach to understanding problems, identifying causes and supporting effective solutions.
- Some exposure to scripting, automation or query languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash or KQL would be beneficial, alongside a willingness to develop these skills further.
- A collaborative and curious mindset, with clear communication skills, a willingness to share knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for learning and developing your career within cyber security.
