We are delighted to be working with a successful and growing business based in Gateshead, who are looking to appoint an experienced Management Accountant to join their finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded accountant who enjoys working with financial data, producing meaningful management information and supporting senior stakeholders with key business decisions.
The Role
As Management Accountant, you will take responsibility for the preparation and analysis of management accounts, financial reporting and budgeting, while providing valuable financial insight across the business.
You will work closely with senior management and operational teams, helping to identify trends, improve financial performance and support the continued growth of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts
Produce detailed management reports and financial analysis
Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections
Analyse financial performance against budget and prior periods
Investigate variances and provide clear explanations to stakeholders
Provide financial insight and support to senior management
Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure appropriate accounting controls are followed
Support the preparation of annual budgets and forecasting
Monitor costs, profitability and key financial performance indicators
Identify opportunities for improving financial processes and controls
Work collaboratively with operational and commercial teams
Assist with year-end accounts and external audit requirements where required
Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions
About You
We are looking for an experienced accountant who is confident working with financial information and able to communicate financial results effectively to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
You will ideally have:
Previous experience working in a Management Accountant or similar role
Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience
Excellent Excel skills
Experience with budgeting and forecasting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
The ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
A commercially focused approach
ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified/part-qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, although candidates with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
