We’re expanding our team at Fernleigh House and welcoming patient, compassionate individuals to join our team. Fernleigh is a unique 3-bedroom children's home in Cornwall, looking to support children with learning disabilities, autism, speech delays and complex needs. We are dedicated to making them feel safe, not just in their homes but also in the surrounding areas.
Expect playful, engaging days filled with singing, dancing, colouring and creative activities that foster joy and connection.
As a Children's Support Worker you will be responsible for:
- Acting as a corporate parent to care for, support and meet the needs of the children
- Personal care, cooking, cleaning, assisting with homework and participating in activities
- Use the PACE model to support emotional and behavioural needs.
- Safeguarding and promoting welfare of children
- To ensure all paperwork is completed to a high standard
- Supporting Children and young people with appointments/health checks
What We’re Looking For:
- Full UK driving licence (Held for 12+ months)
- Experience working with children is preferred, but not essential
- Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards)
Pay & Benefits
- Average weekly hours of 37.50 hours
- Earn £27,300.00 per annum (£14 p/h)
- Sleep-ins: £60/night | Potential earnings up to £34,476.00 year

- Additional shifts may be available at our nearby home supporting a complex young person, paid at an enhanced rate of £14.85 per hour
- Annual pay review
- Casual dress, meals on shift, company shift car and Blue Light Card eligibility
Example Work Pattern: 3-week rolling rota (37.5 hours per week on average)
- Week 1: 2 shifts (e.g., Wednesday & Friday)
- Week 2: 2 shifts (e.g., Tuesday & Thursday)
- Week 3: 3 shifts (e.g., Monday, Saturday & Sunday)
- Work 1 in 3 weekends
- Typical shift: 7:00am to 7:30am the following day (with sleep-in)
