Position Overview
We are seeking a self motivated and dedicated Venue Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations.The ideal candidate will embody our values of sustainability, community engagement, and innovation.This role requires a strong leader who can manage operations, co-ordinate events and private hires, inspire a small but growing team, and develop programs that emphasise our commitment to a carbon-neutral business model.The Venue Manager will also explore and implement wellness initiatives, including retreats offering a variety of different practices such as Yoga, sound baths, Chi Gong and more, to enrich our offerings and strengthen community ties.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Management
- Oversee all operational aspects of Nant y Walch Barn, in collaboration with the on-site accommodation Cwm Irfon cottages Coordinate logistics for events, retreats, and sound baths held at the venue, ensuring seamless execution. Schedule viewings for the barn and grounds for prospective bookings – including private hire, wellness practitioners and wedding couples Collaborate on marketing campaigns and brand strategies
2. Sustainability Initiatives
- Implement and promote practices that contribute to a carbon-free and environmentally sustainable business model. Engage in ongoing efforts to reduce the carbon footprint through resource management and waste reduction strategies.
3. Wedding Co-ordination
- Oversee weddings at our small, intimate venue. Responsibilities include liaising with couples and suppliers, coordinating timelines, preparing the venue, managing the wedding day, and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Excellent communication, attention to detail, flexibility, and a warm, professional approach are essential.
4. Community Engagement
- Develop partnerships with local organizations and community groups to foster collaborative initiatives and promote local involvement. Create community-focused events that encourage participation, wellness, and the sharing of resources.
5. Program Development
- Plan and implement retreats and other unique experiences that align with our vision of community and sustainability. Work with local practitioners and facilitators to offer diverse wellness experiences.
6. Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and manage staff to ensure exceptional guest experiences and a positive work environment. Foster a culture of open communication, creativity, and community involvement within the team.
7. Financial Management
- Assist in budget preparation and management, ensuring profitable operations for the more commercial aspects of our business whilst adhering to sustainability goals. Monitor financial performance and implement strategies for growth and efficiency.
8. Marketing and Outreach
- Draft and execute marketing strategies to promote the hire potentials and Nant y Walch brand vision Engage with customers and gather feedback to improve services and offerings continuously.
Qualifications
Whilst we are not asking for specific qualifications and prefer to focus on previous work and life experiences and evidence of the skills learnt the following may be of advantage:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, hospitality, or a related field preferred. Proven experience in hospitality management, event planning, or community engagement roles. Strong understanding of sustainability practices and carbon footprint reduction strategies. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Creative mindset with an interest in wellness practices Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays in consultation with the team and owner Proficient in using management software and digital marketing tools. Knowledge of Adobe applications (Acrobat, InDesign) are desirable.
