The Salvation Army, Cambridge Citadel, has operated a Hub Café for a few years. It plays a major role in the Corps' weekly mission activities, bringing individuals together and offering fellowship, company, and good food. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join a growing programme. The successful applicant will prepare and cook high-quality food for customers as part of an effective catering service. Key Responsibilities:
The post-holder will cook to order a breakfast/lunch service and occasionally plan healthy and nutritious menus that are cost-effective for the service, considering any nutritional and dietary requirements and customer opinion. The post-holder will ensure that current health and safety, environmental health and hygiene standards, and other appropriate regulations and procedures are maintained within the catering facility (e.g., BFH / COSHH) and that food storage is carried out to approved British standards. Leaving everything clean and tidy.
The successful candidate(s) will have:
Good knowledge and experience in preparing and serving food in a commercial kitchen environment. Able to influence others and develop effective working relationships with colleagues, programme participants and external stakeholders.
It is important that the successful candidate understands the community’s needs and has proficiency in English. Ability to supervise the work of Assistants and Volunteers and provide training where necessary in collaboration with the Corps Officer.
Candidates must also be committed to the values, aims and ethos of The Salvation Army.
