The Role
As a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner, you will play an important role in providing high-quality education and care and creating an environment where every child has the opportunity to flourish.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing a safe, nurturing, stimulating and welcoming environment for children.
- Planning and delivering fun and engaging learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Supporting children’s individual learning, development and emotional wellbeing.
- Acting as a key person and building strong, positive relationships with children and their families.
- Observing and assessing children’s development and using your knowledge to support their individual next steps.
- Encouraging children’s confidence, independence, curiosity and communication.
- Recognising and responding appropriately to children’s individual needs.
- Working in partnership with parents and carers.
- Maintaining excellent standards of safeguarding, health and safety, hygiene and welfare.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and contributing positively to the nursery team.
- Following Banana Moon policies and procedures and all relevant statutory requirements.
- Helping maintain consistently high standards throughout the nursery.
Ready to Step Up to Room Leader?
We are also keen to hear from experienced practitioners who are ready to take the next step in their Early Years career, as well as candidates who already have Room Leader experience.
As a Room Leader, you will have additional responsibility for:
- Leading, motivating and supporting your room team.
- Taking responsibility for the effective day-to-day running of your room.
- Modelling excellent Early Years practice.
- Supporting and developing practitioners within your team.
- Maintaining high-quality interactions, observations, assessments and provision.
- Ensuring excellent safeguarding and welfare standards within your room.
- Working closely with the nursery management team to continually develop practice.

Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working within an Early Years or childcare setting.
- Good working knowledge of the EYFS.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to meet the suitability requirements for working with children.
A current 12-hour Paediatric First Aid certificate is desirable. Training can be provided or discussed where appropriate.
Previous leadership experience would be advantageous for applicants interested in the Room Leader position.
Pay
£13.00–£14.50 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience and level of responsibility.
The upper end of the range reflects relevant experience and additional Room Leader responsibilities.
