Senior Commissioning Engineer (Fire Systems)
Salary: Up to £48,000 depending on experience
Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:30–17:00
Location: Onsite across Kent & London
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer to join a well-established and forward-thinking fire and security solutions provider.
You will play a key role within the Projects Department, delivering high-quality fire system installations across Kent and London.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for commissioning both addressable and non-addressable fire alarm systems from a range of leading manufacturers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Independently commissioning fire systems to the highest standards
- Reviewing specifications, drawings, and technical documentation
- Resolving complex technical issues and system faults
- Escalating site or system challenges promptly to maintain project progress
- Completing accurate reports, timesheets, and expenses
- Supporting other departments when required, including occasional callouts
- Configuring systems, testing software, and validating cause-and-effect functionality
- Identifying potential sales opportunities while on site
- Working occasional unsocial hours (night work)
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a confident, technically skilled professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional service.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive experience commissioning fire systems to British/European Standards and BAFE/NSI codes
- Advanced knowledge of fire system products and capabilities
- Experience working across multiple manufacturers and system types
- Relevant industry training (FIA Modules 1, 2, 3, and 5 or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements
- Ability to produce clear engineering reports and handover documentation
- Excellent interpretation of technical specifications and architectural drawings
- A self-motivated, organised, and results-driven approach
- Professional, customer-focused communication skills
