About us
MakeMyHouseGreen is a growing UK solar installation company. We quote, design, and install in-house, and we're MCS-registered — so you're working under our scheme certification and don't need your own NICEIC/NAPIT/MCS registration to sign EICs on our jobs.
The role
We're looking for an experienced solar installer who's already had hands on PV and battery systems, who can sign off their own work, and who's ready to be a senior figure on a small, growing team. Around three domestic installs a week across Greater London and the South East. Steady, predictable work — and a real seat at the table on how we run installs.
This is a fresh-installs role. Occasional revisits come up but they're not the bulk of the week — you'll mostly be putting in clean new systems with the time to do them properly.
If you've got most of the renewables tickets but are missing one or two, we'll sponsor 18th Edition, 2391, 2922 or 2923 in exchange for 15 completed installs over the following 12 months. We don't sponsor the underlying Level 3 — that needs to be in hand at start.
Bring your roofer.
If you already work regularly with a roofer you trust, we'd love them as part of the team. Not essential — we've got our own — but a real plus, and we'll talk about how that works for both of you.
What you'll be doing
- Installing solar PV and battery systems on residential properties — full installs, AC and DC
- Working alongside your roofer (or ours) to get the job done right first time
- Inspecting, testing, and signing off the electrical work (EIC and DC certificate)
- Handling the occasional revisit when one's needed
- Feeding back to ops on what's working on site and what isn't — and actually seeing things change
Must-haves
- Level 3 NVQ or Diploma in Electrical/Electrotechnical Installation — e.g. C&G 2357, 5357 (apprenticeship), 2365, or EAL equivalent
- If you came via apprenticeship: AM2 / AM2E / AM2S passed
- 4+ years' electrical experience
- Comfortable at heights and on roofs, or genuinely open to learning
- Full UK driving licence
- Reliable, professional, good with customers
We sponsor the course and exam fees in exchange for a commitment to 15 completed installs over the following 12 months. Tapered clawback if you leave early — full details up front, nothing hidden.
Nice-to-haves
- Domestic solar PV and battery install experience
- ECS Gold Card (Installation Electrician)
- A trusted roofer who could come along as part of the team
- An eye for spotting how things could run more smoothly
What's in it for you
- £45k–£65k depending on experience
- Employee stock ownership plan — you own a real piece of what you're building. Rare for a role like this.
- Sponsored training to add 18th Edition, 2391, 2922 and 2923 to your CV
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Company van and fuel card
- ~3 installs a week, consistent — no chasing work, no quiet weeks at home
- Time to do the job right — we'd rather you finish properly than rush onto the next one
- Real input on how we run installs — your suggestions actually get heard
- Company pension
- A direct hand in the UK's clean energy transition
Apply if you're a solid electrician who likes doing things properly — happy on the tools, proud of work that stands up to scrutiny, and keen to be part of a team building something good.
