You will support children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, complex needs and safeguarding risks within a safe, nurturing and structured environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide consistent day-to-day care and emotional support.
- Build positive and professional relationships with young people.
- Follow individual care plans, behaviour plans and risk assessments.
- Support education, appointments, therapy and community activities.
- Promote independence through cooking, budgeting, self-care and practical life skills.
- Safeguard young people and report concerns immediately.
- Respond calmly to incidents and behaviours that challenge.
- Administer medication and first aid in accordance with training.
- Maintain accurate daily records, incident reports and safeguarding documentation.
- Contribute to cooking, cleaning and maintaining a welcoming home.
- Work closely with colleagues, social workers and other professionals.
Essential requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- At least two years’ experience supporting children and young people with EBD and complex needs.
- Experience supporting young people affected by exploitation or safeguarding risks, including CSE/CCE.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge.
- The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and sleep-ins.
- Indefinite right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.
A full UK driving licence and experience within an Ofsted-regulated children’s home would be advantageous.
Pay: £31,000.00-£34,500.00 per year
