Lead PPM Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Lead PPM Engineer to join the engineering team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is a mobile role carrying out planned preventative maintenance and compliance works across client sites. The role will involve leading site visits, working alongside assistant engineers, and ensuring all work is completed safely, professionally and to the required industry standards.
The successful candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas: fire damper testing, air hygiene, ventilation cleaning, kitchen extract cleaning, TR19 works, fire compartmentation, fire stopping or fire safety remedial works.
The Role
As Lead PPM Engineer, you will take responsibility for delivering planned maintenance and compliance works across a range of sites.
You will be expected to lead from the front, guide assistant engineers, complete works to a high standard, record accurate evidence and liaise professionally with clients and site contacts.
This role would suit someone who is hands-on, organised, safety-conscious and confident taking ownership of jobs on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planned preventative maintenance visits across client sites.
- Carry out kitchen extraction cleaning services to TR19 Grease standards.
- Carry out ventilation and ductwork cleaning services to TR19 standards.
- Carry out annual drop testing of fire damper units to BS9999 standards.
- Carry out fire compartment remediation works in line with relevant fire safety requirements.
- Lead and support assistant engineers while on site.
- Ensure all works are completed safely, correctly and in line with company engineering standards.
- Identify faults, non-compliance, failed dampers, access issues or remedial requirements.
- Complete accurate job reports, photos, paperwork and compliance evidence.
- Liaise with clients, site managers and internal teams to ensure smooth delivery of works.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, PPE use and site cleanliness.
- Manage tools, equipment, materials and vehicle stock responsibly.
- Adapt to travel requirements, scheduling changes and business needs.
- Support retraining and development where additional services are required.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a Lead Engineer, PPM Engineer, Fire Damper Engineer, Air Hygiene Engineer, Ventilation Cleaning Engineer, Fire Stopping Engineer or similar.
- Experience carrying out planned maintenance or compliance works on client sites.
- Knowledge of TR19, TR19 Grease and/or BS9999 would be highly desirable.
- Experience with fire damper testing, ventilation cleaning, kitchen extract cleaning or fire compartmentation works.
- Ability to lead an assistant engineer and take responsibility for quality on site.
- Strong health and safety awareness.
- Good communication skills when dealing with clients, site managers and internal teams.
- Able to complete reports, photos and compliance paperwork accurately.
- Flexible approach to travel and scheduling changes.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Fire damper drop testing under BS9999 standards.
- Air hygiene or ventilation cleaning experience under TR19.
- Kitchen extract cleaning experience under TR19 Grease.
- Fire stopping or fire compartment remediation experience.
- Passive fire protection experience.
- Supervisory, lead engineer or mentoring experience.
- CSCS, IPAF, PASMA, asbestos awareness, manual handling or first aid training.
