Full time vacancy
FTC/Secondment: 07/09/26 - 08/08/27
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Out of Court Resolutions team as a Case Worker, where you will work with offenders who have been identified as suitable to receive a disposal outside of the Court process.
A key part of your role will be to perform suspect needs assessments to identify underlying factors that have contributed to their offending behaviours and make referrals to help them address those behaviours. This is through early intervention and other appropriate conditions. The Case Workers make up part of a team who are helping TVP to move to the nationally mandated 2Tier+ framework, preparing for and implementing the use of Diversionary Cautions and Community Cautions alongside Community Resolutions. The aim is to reduce officers’ workloads, reduce reoffending rates and increase victim satisfaction. We are considered experts in our field and provide a much needed service to support colleagues, while creating meaningful outcomes for offenders and victims through the use of Out of Court Resolutions.
The successful candidate will communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, at all levels, both verbally and in writing and be confident to contribute to multi-agency meetings. You will take personal responsibility and show resilience when dealing with conflict and vulnerable/distressed members of the public, whilst making good decisions when under pressure. Completion of the relevant training to acquire Designated Powers is required along with being ICT literate in Microsoft Office applications with a willingness to learn new systems as required.
The ability to work effectively as a team member with minimum supervision is essential along with working on your own initiative whilst prioritising and organising your workload. Negotiation and influencing skills are required with the resilience and ability to adapt your communication style appropriately.
You will have a willingness to learn relevant guidance and procedures together with a full UK driving licence to enable travel around the Force to different locations.
If you are a permanent member of staff applying for this role, please note it will be offered on a secondment basis. Important: All secondments must be supported in writing by your Line Manager and Head of Department/Commander or Deputy. Please attach written approval from your line manager and Head of Department in your application. If the secondment is not supported then the role may be offered on a fixed term contract basis, but this has implications including loss of continuous service protections.
Please note: Shift allowance, on-call or other job related allowances from the previous role will not be protected unless they are attached to the new role for the duration of the secondment.
As part of the Thames Valley Police family you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 24 days annual leave per annum, pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme.
