Company Overview
Craufurdland Ltd is an independent, family-run country estate offering a distinctive mix of hospitality, outdoor experiences and peaceful natural surroundings. At the heart of the estate is our busy restaurant overlooking the lochan, alongside our high-wire adventure course, woodland experiences and natural burial ground.
It’s an unusual place to work, and that’s part of what makes Craufurdland special. We welcome a wide range of visitors throughout the year, from families and restaurant guests to people enjoying the estate and its activities.
Behind it all is a small, hands-on team. We value people who are practical, friendly and willing to get involved, with everyone working together to give our visitors a warm and memorable experience.
£13.50 –£14.50 per hour, depending on experience + equal share of tips
Experienced restaurant supervisor wanted for a busy, independent restaurant with sociable daytime hours.
If you are an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys the buzz of a busy restaurant, knows how to lead from the floor and wants to move away from regular late-night finishes, this could be an excellent fit.
We are a busy, stand-alone independent restaurant with a strong walk-in trade. Our busiest period is typically 12pm–3pm, so we need someone who is comfortable making decisions, organising people and keeping service flowing when several things are happening at once.
This is a hands-on role in a hands-on team. We don't operate with a rigid “FOH versus BOH” mentality. We work as one restaurant team and expect our supervisor to lead in the same way.
Is This You?
You will need:
- A minimum of 6 years' hospitality experience
- Experience working in a stand-alone restaurant – essential
- Previous supervisory, senior restaurant or management experience
- Strong experience of fast-paced, high-volume restaurant service
- Experience managing busy periods with significant walk-in trade
- Confidence leading, organising and motivating a team
- Excellent customer service skills
- The ability to remain calm, positive and decisive under pressure
We're looking for someone with genuine restaurant experience who can read a busy service, spot problems before they develop and know where they are needed without constantly waiting for direction.
This is not an entry-level supervisory position.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll work closely with management and take responsibility for helping deliver a smooth, well-organised service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the team during busy breakfast and lunch services
- Managing the restaurant floor during our peak 12pm–3pm period
- Managing high volumes of walk-in customers
- Organising tables and helping maximise covers while maintaining service standards
- Allocating duties and keeping the team organised during busy periods
- Supporting and motivating team members
- Maintaining consistently high standards of customer service
- Handling customer queries and resolving issues professionally
- Opening and closing responsibilities
- Cash handling and till procedures
- Training and supporting team members
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and restaurant presentation
- Assisting with staff rotas under management supervision
- Helping ensure staffing levels are appropriate for expected trade
- Stepping in wherever needed to keep the restaurant running smoothly
One Team, No FOH/BOH Divide
Our culture is important to us.
We operate as one team. We don't want managers or supervisors who stand back and simply tell other people what to do.
If a table needs cleared, we clear it. If dishes need moved, we move them. If another part of the restaurant needs help, we help.
The Restaurant Supervisor is expected to lead by example, roll up their sleeves and work alongside the team.
We are looking for someone who naturally thinks “What needs done?” rather than “Whose job is that?”
Our approach to tips reflects the same philosophy: tips are shared equally amongst the whole team.
Busy Days – Sociable Hours
You get the pace and energy of a busy restaurant without the usual late-night hospitality schedule.
Weekdays – last orders at 4pm
Weekends – last orders at 5pm
There is very limited evening work.
Occasional evening work may be required for special events or functions, but late evenings are not part of the normal weekly rota.
For someone who loves hospitality but no longer wants to regularly finish at 10pm, 11pm or midnight, this role offers a very different working pattern.
What We Offer
- £13.50 – £14.50 per hour, depending on experience
- Equal share of tips
- Sociable daytime working pattern
- Weekday last orders at 4pm
- Weekend last orders at 5pm
- Very limited evening work
- A stable role within an independent restaurant
- A genuine one-team working culture
- Responsibility and the opportunity to make a difference to how the restaurant operates
- Support from management while developing further supervisory responsibility
The Person We're Looking For
Qualifications on paper matter less to us than real restaurant experience, attitude and judgement.
You'll probably be someone who has spent several years working in good independent restaurants and understands what a successful service looks like.
You notice when a customer has been waiting too long. You see when a team member needs help. You can reorganise priorities when several walk-ins arrive together. You communicate clearly with the kitchen, stay composed when it's busy and aren't afraid to get stuck in yourself.
You should be friendly but confident, organised without being rigid, and able to lead without creating unnecessary hierarchy.
In return, you'll join a restaurant where hard work is expected, teamwork is valued and your working day normally finishes at a much more sociable time than in traditional restaurant hospitality.
