Location: Middlesbrough
Hours: 4 on / 4 off (Night & Day Shifts rotation) | 7pm - 7am & 7am – 7pm | 6 rotations (3 sets of nights & 3 sets of days) and then 16 days off!
Salary: £31,000 per annum
Job Purpose:
The purpose of the Despatch Supervisor role is to oversee the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of all stock and goods. The role is responsible for managing internal and external despatch operations, maintaining accurate stock records and inventory data, and ensuring maximum value is achieved from all finished goods held at the Wynyard site and external warehouses. The Despatch Supervisor is also responsible for the day-to-day management, development, and performance of Stock Controllers and Pickers.
Key Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
To review and control the work of department members to ensure a high level of performance with respect to health and safety, customer service levels, out of date stock levels and customer shortages.
Intake
-
To oversee the activities of the Stock Controller to ensure the effective and accurate receipt of finished product.

Liaise with sites to coordinate schedule of product requirements (what/when).

To ensure through the Stock Controller that all departmental stocks are reconciled – checking system stock levels against actual and reporting stock levels twice daily to sites.

To ensure all stock checks are accurate by regular monitoring and action any discrepancies identified.
Storage/Picking

To oversee the picking process ensuring best practice is being adopted for procedures and customer demands.

To ensure stringent stock rotation and stock usage systems are followed at all times.

To ensure that both the company’s and customer’s temperature controls are adhered to at all times.

Maintain good housekeeping principles throughout the warehouse area.
Despatch
-
Ensure effective and accurate despatch of product to meet haulage/delivery requirements.

Liaise with sites to coordinate special deliveries/product availability.

Ensure Any Admin required for Orders are Correct & efficiently done.

Ensure timely and accurate issue of internal morning shortage reports to sites and actual customer shortage reports.

Supply of pallet estimate information to external hauliers.

Monitor and ensure accuracy of Despatch Notes and Load Sheets.

Ensure Saturday night system close down procedure is fully adhered to.
General
-
Participate in training and development activities as required and actively seek to develop your own staff.

Maintain employment procedures to control staff absence, holidays, return to work interviews and general discipline.

Constantly seek to improve all aspects of the despatch department operation.

Any other duties that could reasonably be expected as being within the remit of the post.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
-
The ability to supervise and control a team of Order Pickers and Stock Controllers and to liaise with other company departments to ensure information flow and good team work.

Good man management, communication and computer skills are essential together with a “can do” attitude.
