Key Responsibilities for a General Haulage Planner
Coordinating the movement of goods, that includes:
Assigning jobs to drivers and vehicles
Planning cost efficient routes (fuel, time, tolls)
Scheduling deliveries and collections
Monitoring driver hours and compliance
Reacting quickly to issues such as traffic congestion, breakdowns or last-minute jobs
About You We're looking for someone who brings:
Prior transport operations and general haulage experience essential
Strong organisation and multitasking
Good geographic knowledge (UK roads, motorways, restrictions)
IT skills (transport management systems, Excel, tracking software)
Good communication (drivers, warehouses, clients)
Attention to detail
Problem-solving under pressure
A transport related qualification desirable however experience and willingness to learn are paramount
