We are looking for a highly experienced Fibre Laser Operator with strong hands-on knowledge of laser cutting processes and parameter optimisation.
This is not a basic machine operator role. We need someone who understands fibre laser cutting in detail and can diagnose poor cut quality, adjust parameters correctly, and achieve consistently high-quality finishes across different materials and thicknesses.
Key responsibilities:
- Set up and operate fibre laser cutting machinery
- Create, adjust and fine-tune cutting parameters
- Diagnose problems such as dross, burrs, burning, rough edges, poor penetration and inconsistent cuts
- Optimise power, speed, focus position, gas pressure, nozzle size/height, piercing settings and cutting strategy
- Understand how changes in individual parameters affect cut quality
- Produce smooth, clean, repeatable cuts with minimal secondary finishing
- Troubleshoot machine/process issues and identify whether problems are caused by parameters, optics, nozzles, gas, alignment or other factors
- Develop reliable parameter sets for different materials and thicknesses
Requirements:
- Several years of professional fibre laser cutting experience
- Advanced understanding of fibre laser cutting parameters and process optimisation
- Experience cutting mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium
- Able to independently diagnose and improve poor cut quality
- Strong knowledge of nitrogen, oxygen and/or compressed-air cutting
- Experience with high-powered fibre lasers is strongly preferred
- Comfortable taking responsibility for achieving production-quality results rather than simply running existing programs
We are particularly interested in someone who has worked in a high-quality laser cutting environment where parameter development, troubleshooting and cut-quality optimisation were a major part of the role.
Please apply with details of the fibre laser machines, power levels, controllers/software and materials you have previously worked with.
Pay: £15.00-£25.00 per hour
