This IT Support Officer role is based in the Pathology department at Hereford County Hospital. The purpose of the role is to provide comprehensive technical and administrative support for the Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and its connected systems, provide first line support for Pathology laboratory staff, ensure accurate patient data handling, troubleshoot system issues, maintain electronic laboratory records, and assist staff with reporting laboratory results. The post holder will support the Pathology IT Manager and Pathology IT Deputy Manager and, in their absence, deputise.
To help maintain patient records in the LIMS and connected systems, to include undertaking searches for and registering patients on the Trust’s EPR (Electronic Patient Record) system, updating\amending records if necessary by liaising with external sources such as GP surgeries. This is to ensure that the correct laboratory results are filed against the correct patient in all systems.
To be responsible for monitoring the Trust Interface Engine (TIE) and maintaining its configuration in order to identify and resolve any transmission errors of results between the LIMS and various connected systems.
To assist with other maintenance tasks in the LIMS such as the creation, configuration and maintenance of new laboratory tests and investigations, healthcare specialists, users, locations, coded comments and rules.
To assist with the configuration of the trusts Ordercomms system, to include the creation and manipulation of new tests, order sets and templates that enable external users to request testing of samples from the lab.
To Liaise with GP surgeries and other external locations to facilitate the transmission of lab results in a timely manner.
To assist the Pathology IT Manager and Deputy in setting up, testing and providing support in the implementation of new modules or systems and assist in rolling them out within the Pathology department.
To perform regular checks on the various laboratory systems to ensure stability.
