Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate ALN / ASD Primary Teacher to join a specialised educational team. This role involves supporting children with additional learning needs and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), fostering their development through tailored teaching strategies. Duties
- Develop and implement personalised educational programmes aligned with individualised education plans (IEPs) for children with ASD and additional learning needs.
- Deliver engaging lessons incorporating speech therapy, maths, physical education, and other core subjects tailored to each child's abilities.
- Utilise behaviour management techniques and applied behaviour analysis (ABA) strategies to promote positive behaviour and social skills.
- Support children's emotional well-being through mentoring, childcare, toddler care, and preschool activities.
- Collaborate with speech therapists, therapists specialising in ABA, and other professionals to support holistic development.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, behaviour notes, and communication logs; proofread reports for clarity and accuracy.
- Provide guidance on communication skills development, including speech therapy techniques and social interaction strategies.
- Assist with tutoring sessions in various subjects as needed to reinforce learning objectives.
- Support physical activities and teaching of physical education to promote motor skills development.
- Mentor new staff or interns by sharing best practices in special education and behaviour management.
Requirements
- Proven experience in early childhood education or special education settings; preschool experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of working with children on the autism spectrum and those requiring additional learning support.
- Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, applied behaviour analysis (ABA), behaviour management, and tutoring methods.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with children, parents, colleagues, and external specialists.
- Ability to develop engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
- Organised approach to maintaining detailed records of student progress and programme adjustments.
- Passion for mentoring children’s growth through nurturing guidance and inclusive teaching practices.
- Relevant qualifications in early childhood education or special education are preferred; ongoing professional development is encouraged.
