We are looking for a part time Café Bar Worker for Deben Café on HMS Vale to work in our unique café bar located on an old warship based alongside Melton Boatyard.
We are searching for an honest, reliable, and trustworthy Café Bar Worker who has experience providing professional friendly customer service, preferably with good cooking skills.
You would be involved with all aspects of working in a café bar including serving drinks, using our barista machines, serving drinks and offering an experienced alcohol service. You would be involved in helping to prepare and serve breakfasts, wholesome lunches, and bar snacks, in addition to keeping our café hygienically clean.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who would enjoy working in our unique, fast-paced environment, and would enjoy providing our excellent reputation of being the river Deben’s favourite local spot.
Pay: £10.85 to £12.71 per hour depending on your age and experience.
5 days per week
Café opening hours: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday (closed Wed) 9am to 5pm. Your working day will fit around these opening times.
Job Requirements
Must be over 18yrs
· At least 2 years work experience in a Café or Bar
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Level 2 certification in Food Hygiene essential
Minimum 2 GCSEs including maths and English at C(4/5) or above.
Personal licence for serving alcohol desirable.
Simple cooking skills useful.
Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines desirable but training can be given.
Willingness to work during peak hours, including, weekends and holidays.
Ability to problem solve.
Be physically fit. All staff walk between 5000 and 15000 steps per day including up and down our ship's ladders.
You should feel confident working on a ship. This involves walking on uneven floors, standing for long periods, climbing ladders, negotiating watertight doors and occasionally moving heavy items in a fast-paced environment.
You will enjoy working in our unusual environment inside and outside of an old war ship with varying temperatures and differing weather conditions.
Applicants should also note that our ship is based on the River Deben, therefore has a gang way access and floats on every tide.
