Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Vehicle Garage Mechanic to join our workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of cars and vans, with a strong focus on Mercedes Sprinter vehicles. This role is ideal for a skilled mechanic who is confident handling mechanical, electrical, and major vehicle repairs independently.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and service cars and vans of all makes and models
- Carry out engine repairs, servicing, and routine maintenance
- Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs, including wiring, sensors, and control units
- Repair and maintain AdBlue systems, DPF issues, exhaust systems, and emissions-related faults
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime
- Carry out preventative maintenance to ensure vehicles operate safely and efficiently
- Assist with major repairs and overhauls as required
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, diagnostics, and repairs completed
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and workshop standards
- Keep the workshop clean, organised, and safe at all times
Skills & Requirements
- Proven experience as a vehicle mechanic in a garage or workshop environment
- Strong knowledge of engine repair, vehicle servicing, and diagnostics
- Excellent understanding of electrical systems and fault finding
- Extensive experience working with Mercedes Sprinter vans (highly preferred)
- Ability to repair major vehicle systems including DPF, AdBlue, exhaust, and emissions systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Relevant mechanical qualifications or certifications are desirable
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude
- Willingness to adapt to new vehicle technologies and diagnostic equipment
