Join our team as a Health and Safety Advisor, where your expertise will drive a proactive safety culture across our operations. In this vital role, you will develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies to ensure a secure environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. Your energetic approach will inspire continuous improvement, fostering a workplace where safety is embedded in every activity. As a key player in risk management, you’ll lead initiatives that promote well-being, compliance, and operational excellence. Reporting into the Head of HR, you will support in fostering a safety first culture.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement effective control measures.
- Develop, review, and update health and safety policies aligned with legal requirements and industry best practices.
- Deliver engaging safety training sessions to educate staff on emergency procedures, safe work practices, and first aid protocols.
- Perform regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify areas for improvement. (this will involve travelling to all 6 of our depots, in a work provided vehicle)
- Lead root cause analysis investigations following incidents or near-misses to prevent recurrence and enhance safety protocols.
- Prepare clear, detailed reports on safety performance, incidents, and audit findings for management review.
- Coordinate emergency response plans and ensure all team members are familiar with evacuation procedures and first aid procedures.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Health and Safety Advisor or similar role within a fast-paced operational environment.
- NEBOSH certified essential
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
- Certified in first aid with the ability to provide immediate assistance during emergencies.
- Skilled in report writing with the ability to analyze data to identify trends and root causes of safety issues.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis effectively to address underlying issues impacting safety performance.
- Excellent communication skills with the capacity to deliver training sessions confidently to diverse audiences.
- Experience in conducting investigations following incidents or near-misses is highly desirable.
