Due to continued organic growth, we are actively recruiting for a Graduate Structural Engineer to support in delivering Structural engineering design solutions.
Becoming a key part of the team as a graduate engineer in a relatively small company you will gain ownership and responsibility for a project quickly, but will always have close support from our senior staff.
- Undertaking structural engineering analysis and design under the supervision of a senior engineer
- Design of small to medium sized projects or sections of larger projects so as to achieve the client’s objectives to cost and programme-including where necessary attendance at design teams meeting and workshops
- Production of design calculations in accordance with relevant codes of practice
- Prepare drawings from engineer’s sketches
- Prepare reinforcement detail drawings and bending schedules
- Coordinate with the design team and stakeholder interface
- Carry out site inspections
- Attend meetings with clients and the wider design team
- Absorbing and applying sustainable design practices
- Gathering of information, carrying out surveys, research
- Contribution towards specifications, tender/construction documents and reports
- Supervising and providing assistance to student placements
- Working with CAD Technicians to produce relevant structural information
- A degree in civil or structural engineering (Minimum 2:2)
- Minimum of 2 years relevant UK experience in building structures
- Strong problem solving abilities and creativity
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure
- Can work well in a small team
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD (preferred not essential)
- Experience in design software such as Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Tedds
- Good understanding of Building Structures
- Good client association and communication
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software packages i.e. Excel, Word etc.
- Working appreciation of relevant engineering principles
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
- Great team player
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage time with multiple tasks
- Flexible and adaptable
- Knowledge of basic engineering principles
- Apply Eurocodes, British Standards, current Construction (Design and Management) (CDM)
- Regulations, and other design codes/information as appropriate
- Candidates must be eligible to work and live in the UK
- Must hold a full driving licence and own a car
