REF: JOB6317
Role Outline:
We are looking for an HR Advisory Manager to lead and manage the HR Advisory Team by providing expert employee relations advice and guidance across the organisation. You will also act as a deputy for the HR Director and provide operational support to the Recruitment and HR Administration teams whilst contributing to the delivery of a high quality integrated HR service.
Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced HR professional to lead our HR Advisory Team, ensuring the delivery of expert, consistent, and high-quality HR advice across the organisation. In this role, you will manage and develop the team, setting clear objectives, providing regular feedback, and supporting their professional growth. You will also oversee the allocation and management of employee relations (ER) caseloads, ensuring cases are resolved promptly, fairly, and in line with organisational policies and UK employment law. Regular monitoring and reporting of team performance and advisory metrics to the HR Director will also be key responsibilities.
As the senior point of expertise for complex and high-risk ER matters, you will handle disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, absence, and redundancy processes, applying your in-depth knowledge of UK employment law to ensure compliance. You will also take the lead in developing, implementing, and reviewing HR policies and procedures, ensuring these align with legislation and best practices while being clearly communicated and consistently applied. Liaising with external employment law consultants and relevant bodies will also form part of your remit.
You will deputise for the HR Director as required, providing senior HR leadership and representing the HR function at senior management meetings. This includes offering strategic HR input, operational oversight, and support to the Recruitment and HR Administration Teams, ensuring seamless service delivery. You will also contribute to TUPE projects, organisational change initiatives, and other strategic HR priorities.
Additionally, you will provide support and guidance to the Recruitment and HR Administration Teams on policy matters, complex queries, and process improvements. Working closely with the Senior Recruitment Manager, you will ensure recruitment activities align with organisational workforce planning needs.
Data management and reporting are integral aspects of this role. You will maintain HR information systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and use tools such as Microsoft Excel to analyse and present workforce data. You will produce regular and ad hoc HR reports and dashboards, offering actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
Finally, you will collaborate with the HR Director to align HR strategies with business objectives, playing a key role in the development and execution of the people plan. You will lead on HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives, particularly within the advisory and ER space, contributing to the ongoing success of the organisation.
What we are looking for:
You will be CIPD Level 7 qualified professional (or equivalent experience) with a strong background in senior HR advisory or management roles, ideally within healthcare or a similarly regulated sector. You must have comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and proven experience advising on and managing a range of employment law matters, including TUPE transfers.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading and developing HR Advisory Teams, with the ability to motivate, coach, and deliver exceptional employee relations services. You should be a confident decision-maker, capable of managing competing priorities and working effectively under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, challenge, and engage at all levels, are essential, as is the capacity to provide senior-level HR leadership when deputising for the HR Director.
Proficiency in HR information systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required, with the ability to manipulate data, build reports, and present workforce insights clearly to senior stakeholders. A strong grasp of the wider Microsoft Office Suite and remote working technology is also essential.
We’re seeking a strategic thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills who can translate HR initiatives into practical business solutions. A commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equality is essential, as is the ability to work independently in a home-based environment with occasional travel to London and other sites for meetings.
