Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and proactive Shop Assistant to join our retail team at our busy pet shop/ agricultural merchants, you will be required to help unload lorries and load up customers cars with 20kg bags of feed, as well as serve customers and stock up in the shop. We would consider full time or two part timers to share the hours which are 9am -6pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, assist customers with their purchases, and ensure the shop operates smoothly. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where communication skills and a positive attitude are highly valued. The position is suitable for individuals who enjoy engaging with people and working as part of a team. We are a family run business consisting of a husband and wife team in a busy little shop, we have animals including rabbits, guinea pigs and cats, and you will have some contact with them. We are looking for someone who lives within a 5 mile radius from the shop.
Duties
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding products
- Provide information about products and services offered in the shop
- Operate the cash register, handle transactions accurately, and process payments
- Restock shelves and organise displays to maintain an attractive shop environment
- Answer customer queries in person or via phone courteously and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the shop floor
- Support with stock management, including receiving deliveries and storing stock appropriately
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Fluency in English
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
- Friendly, approachable manner with a professional attitude
- Previous retail or customer service experience is desirable but not essential
