About Stream Group
Stream Group is a specialist engineering and manufacturing business working across marine, industrial and defence sectors.
Our work is varied and hands-on. We manufacture and assemble specialist products and systems including heating and cooling equipment, temperature-controlled equipment, vehicle systems, communications equipment and other engineered products.
Production involves a mixture of mechanical and electrical/electronic assembly, components, enclosures, wiring, fixings and complete product builds. Many of our products are built in small quantities, so this is not repetitive production-line work.
We are looking for someone practical and capable who can take responsibility for the day-to-day running of production and make sure products are built correctly, efficiently and on time.
The Role
As our Production Supervisor / Manufacturing Lead, you will take ownership of daily production activities.
You will organise the workload, oversee the production team and make sure jobs progress from components through assembly to completed product.
This is a hands-on position. We are not looking for someone who simply manages from an office – you will be expected to understand the products, work alongside the team when necessary and get involved in resolving production problems.
Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of production.
- Plan and prioritise manufacturing and assembly work.
- Allocate jobs to Production Operatives and monitor progress.
- Ensure products are completed to the required specification and deadlines.
- Work from engineering drawings, build instructions and bills of materials.
- Carry out and oversee mechanical and electrical/electronic assembly.
- Check workmanship and finished products for quality.
- Identify missing parts, materials or production issues before they cause delays.
- Liaise with engineering, purchasing, stores and management.
- Help organise components, tools and materials required for upcoming builds.
- Maintain accurate production and build records.
- Improve the organisation and efficiency of the production area.
- Ensure safe working practices are followed.
- Support production staff where required.
- Take ownership of problems and see them through to resolution.
- Remain hands-on and assist with product assembly when required.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is practical, organised and comfortable taking responsibility.
Ideally you will have:
- Previous manufacturing, engineering or production experience.
- Experience supervising or coordinating a small production team. (Not Essential)
- Good mechanical and/or electrical assembly experience.
- Confidence using hand tools and production equipment.
- Ability to understand technical drawings and build instructions.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A good understanding of quality control.
- The ability to organise several jobs at different stages of production.
- Good communication skills.
- A proactive approach to solving problems.
- The confidence to take ownership of production rather than waiting to be directed.
- Experience within defence, engineering, HVAC, electronics, electrical assembly, refrigeration, vehicle systems or similar technical manufacturing would be an advantage.
The Person
This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys being on the factory floor and wants responsibility for making production run properly.
You should be the type of person who notices when something is not right, finds out why and gets it sorted.
If you have a strong practical background and are ready to take ownership of a small but varied production environment, we would like to hear from you.
To apply, please submit your CV together with a brief summary of your relevant manufacturing or production experience.
