Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Machine Driver to operate heavy machinery, primarily excavators and wheeled loading shovels within our waste site. The successful candidate will be responsible for manoeuvring equipment safely and efficiently to support various project tasks. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with mechanical knowledge and experience in commercial driving to contribute to a dynamic team environment.
Duties
- Operate excavators and other heavy machinery in accordance with safety protocols and project requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment before and after use, ensuring proper functioning and reporting any faults.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials around the site using appropriate machinery.
- Maintain accurate records of operational hours, maintenance, and safety checks.
- Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate tasks effectively, ensuring project deadlines are met.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks on machinery as needed to ensure optimal performance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating excavators and other heavy machinery in a commercial setting.
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
- Valid commercial driving licence suitable for operating heavy vehicles and machinery.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to construction or industrial sites.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift moderate loads when necessary.
- Relevant certifications or training in heavy machinery operation are desirable but not essential.
