About the role
We are recruiting a Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader to lead shifts within our children’s residential home supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
This role combines direct care with on-shift leadership responsibility. You will be accountable for the safe and effective running of the home during your shift, supporting Residential Support Workers, maintaining standards, and ensuring care is delivered in line with regulations, policies, and care plans.
The role operates on a minimum 30-hour contract, with shifts allocated in line with service need.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate staff on shift, ensuring safe staffing and clear delegation
- Act as the senior decision-maker during your shift, escalating appropriately when required
- Ensure consistent, child-centred care and positive behaviour support
- Implement and monitor care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies
- Oversee daily routines, education, appointments, and activities
- Complete and quality-check records, logs, and handovers
- Support and mentor Residential Support Workers on shift
- Undertake sleep-in duties when rostered, responding appropriately if required
- Work in line with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted quality standards, and company policies
- Liaise professionally with managers and external agencies where required
What we are looking for
- Significant experience working in children’s residential care
- Experience leading shifts or acting as a senior on duty
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and professional judgement
- Confidence managing behaviour, incidents, and staff performance on shift
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Relevant Level 3 or above qualification in Children and Young People is desirable
- Willingness to undertake sleep-in duties
