Milestone Education is looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to support a large specialist SEND setting in Northamptonshire, with opportunities across both primary and secondary age groups.
We're particularly interested in people with experience supporting Autism (ASD) and those who have worked 1:1 with children or young people with additional needs.
What you'll be doing
- Support primary and secondary-aged pupils with Autism and additional needs.
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support where required.
- Help pupils access learning and participate confidently in lessons.
- Adapt your approach around individual communication and learning needs.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Build consistent and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Work closely with teachers and the wider SEND team.
- Promote safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism (ASD).
- SEND Teaching Assistant or relevant childcare experience.
- Experience providing 1:1 support.
- Understanding of how Autism can affect communication, interaction and learning.
- Personable and approachable manner.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable Skills & Qualities
- Previous SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant experience.
- Childcare, education or care background.
- Experience across primary and/or secondary age groups.
- Psychology degree or related qualification.
- Experience supporting behavioural needs.
- Positive, proactive and nurturing approach.
- Genuine interest in developing a career within SEND.
