Site Fabricator/Plater
Location: ICL, Boulby Mine , Loftus (Surface)
Term: Full time - Permanent
Hours: 40hrs per week – Monday to Friday (Alternate weeks of front & back shifts of 6.00am - 2.00pm & 2.00pm – 10:00pm)
Role’s purpose:
To work as part of the surface fabrication department to ensure all machinery and equipment performs in a safe and effective manner through the diligent execution of remedial work derived from maintenance inspection, capital investment project work or operational issues.
Required experience & knowledge:
- Time-served tradesman with experience in the welding and fabrication of heavy equipment ideally gained in a processing plant, mine, or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Familiarity with current welding and fabrication techniques, including but not restricted to MMA and MIG welding, air arc gouging, oxy propane gouging and oxy propane cutting.
- Carry out remedial, preventative or project work according to priorities agreed and within their scope of competence.
- Provide effective feedback to team members and Foremen to maximize the effectiveness of engineering input.
- Offer suggestions for improvements, wherever necessary in terms of equipment safety, performance, tooling, design and working practices.
- Be an effective team member with the ability to work flexibly to meet the demands of the team. To use knowledge, initiative, and experience to the benefit of the group and to be approachable and forthcoming with ideas.
- Demonstrate an interest in personal development and to participate effectively in training sessions as and when required.
- Be self-motivated, disciplined and focused.
- Participate in risk assessments and method statements where appropriate.
Required Qualifications/Certificates:
BS/EN 9606-1 Butt and fillet welding in all positions
Level 2 Skills for Life which incorporates:
Numeracy
Literacy
ITQ
or evidence of GCSE equivalent/higher
Time Served Apprenticeship in a fabrication or plating discipline - NVQ Level 3
Advanced welding qualification desirable

IOSH Working Safely
Effective Communication Skills
