Job Role: To work in both the packhouse and ticket office, assisting with the control of incoming and existing product in the packhouse. Responsible for ensuring that all products processed and packed in the packhouse meet food safety, legal and customer quality standards. The role involves monitoring production activities, conducting inspections, maintaining compliance with food safety systems and taking corrective action where necessary to protect product integrity and consumer safety. Working closely with Supervisor/Manager to keep them updated on any issues.
Job Description
Duties will include:
· Inspect raw materials (sprouts, white cabbage, red cabbage, savoy cabbage) upon intake.
· Conduct quality checks during production and packing
· Inspect pre-packed sprouts for weight accuracy, sealing, labelling and presentation
· Remove and report any product that does not meet quality standards
· Ensure products meet customer specifications.
· Verify that finished products match customer orders
· Monitor trimming, cutting, washing and packaging processes
· Ensure correct handling of sprouts and cabbages to prevent damage
· Check that cross-contamination is avoided
· Verify correct packaging materials are used
· Ensure labels include correct product name, weight production date and batch/BB date
· Approve final check labels before dispatch
· Conduct temperature checks (product and storage areas)
· Ensure cold chain is maintained
· Monitor hygiene standards of production staff
· Report any food safety risks immediately
· Complete QC reports accurately and on time
· Record quality checks, temperature readings, and non-conformances
· Take photos and record comments using company tablet/system where required.
· Maintain traceability documentation
· Identify and isolate non-conforming products
· Report quality issues to the Technical Manager or Quality Supervisor
· Assist in investigating customer complaints
· Conduct final inspection of pallets before dispatch
· Confirm correct labelling, packing, pallet condition, and documentation
· Approve or reject pallets based on quality standards
Hour of Work
· To be agreed with Technical Manager and or Quality Supervisor
· 40hrs per week
(Note the post holder will be expected to adjust these hours or work a different work pattern during the week as required to complete any job roles/ tasks effectively. Some weekend work may be required) (Overtime will also be available at times throughout the year)
Holidays
· Entitlement 28 days per annum pro rata
Candidate Specification
· The post holder will require an advanced understanding of basic food hygiene, health and safety
· Must be able to work under own initiative and as part of a team
· Attention to detail, especially on product quality
· Good communicator reliable and respectful and must attend work punctually
· Have own car/ access to transport
Pay: £12.71-£14.55 per hour
