Our fun-loving 19 year old client with quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy is looking for a friendly and sociable Support Worker who would love to support him with therapeutic activities, medical care and socialising in the community. The Role:
You will be supporting B who lives in his family home with fully adapted facilities including ceiling track hoisting and a wet room. B is a wheelchair user and non-verbal but is able to communicate well with people who know him. B is at residential college during the week in term time and therefore the support is required at weekends and during the school holidays.
Help with personal care along with therapeutic activities will be an integral part of the role. B has significant medical needs and the successful candidate would need to be comfortable in performing medical tasks when trained.
You will be working alongside the client with the support of B’s parents, care team and Case Manager.
About You:
Ideally you will have some care experience but more important is your attitude and aptitude for the job and the ability to follow our client’s care and support plans - full training will be provided.
You will be sociable, reliable and patient and have a happy disposition/fun-loving personality along with a positive and empathetic attitude to working with someone with additional needs, creating a fun environment for him to enjoy.
You will be someone who can work on your own initiative and be proactive in helping B explore new activities
The family have a small friendly dog so you must be an animal lover and not suffer from any pet allergies.
A driver who can drive an automatic vehicle is essential.
Pay:
The pay for each shift is shown below:
£16.00 per hour Weekdays
£18.00 per hour Weekends
This role has a pension scheme and paid holidays.
Shifts:
This role is for a variety of shift times over the weekend and during school holidays inclusive of days and nights. We would consider a candidate looking for contracted hours or bank work.
An enhanced DBS certificate is a requirement. The Post operates a non-smoking environment at all times.
