We are seeking an experienced Energy Products Commodities Trader / Consultant to join our London-based team, with a particular focus on energy markets and upstream, midstream and downstream products across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and executing physical energy commodity trading opportunities, monitoring market movements and providing commercial and strategic consultancy in accordance with the company’s risk framework.
Key responsibilities
- Execute and develop physical trades in energy products.
- Monitor global energy and commodity markets and identify trading opportunities.
- Provide advisory services relating to upstream, midstream and downstream energy products.
- Develop and maintain relationships with international counterparties, clients, brokers, producers and suppliers.
- Manage and coordinate the logistics associated with physical commodity transactions.
- Work closely with internal risk, finance, logistics and operations teams.
- Support the structuring, negotiation and execution of international commodity transactions.
- Assess market, counterparty, price, basis and currency risks..
- Monitor trading performance and contribute to P&L attribution.
- Ensure all trading activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong expertise in commodity markets, particularly energy products and related derivatives.
- Solid understanding of finance, trading risk and P&L management.
- Strong sales, business development and relationship-management capabilities.
- Experience in energy or commodities trading, ideally within a bank, trading house or energy company.
- Experience in international logistics management, maritime law, and commercial terms, and relevant contacts within the shipping sector.
- Advanced analytical skills and strong proficiency in Excel, with exposure to data analysis or quantitative tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and commercial decision-making skills.
- A high level of attention to detail and risk awareness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or another quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to operate effectively under time-sensitive conditions while maintaining high ethical and regulatory standards.
