Applications are invited for an Administrative Assistant position at the Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics, one of six sub-departments within the Department of Physics.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in the life of a world-leading theoretical physics community. Working closely with the Sub-Department Administrator, you will provide essential support across a wide range of academic and administrative activities, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Centre.
A key aspect of the role will be leading the Centre’s busy visitor programme, supporting seminar speakers, visiting students, interns, and long-term academic visitors from around the world. You will be the first point of contact for many visitors and will contribute to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and highly professional environment. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to an intellectually stimulating academic setting dedicated to advancing understanding of the fundamental laws of nature. The post holder will be based onsite in the Beecroft Building, Oxford with occasional working on Saturdays.
You will be a highly organised and adaptable individual with the ability to manage a varied workload efficiently. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. You will also have strong IT skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. Experience of administrative work, including handling enquiries, organising travel, and supporting events, is desirable.

This is a part-time post (18.25 hours per week), fixed term for 12 months.
