Estimator
£30,000 – £35,000 per year, depending on experience
Monday–Thursday: 8:00am–5:00pm | Friday: 8:00am–2:30pm
About Jetcut
Jetcut Ltd is a well-established precision cutting company based in Glengarnock, supplying high-quality profile-cutting services to customers across a wide range of industries.
We're looking for an Estimator to join our team. This is a varied and hands-on role where you'll be involved from the initial customer enquiry and quotation right through to getting the job successfully through production.
If you're technically minded, organised, comfortable working with drawings and enjoy dealing with customers, this could be a great opportunity to build a career within a busy engineering environment.
The Role
You'll be responsible for taking customer drawings and turning them into accurate, competitive quotations.
You'll review drawings, work out material requirements and machine run times using our nesting and quoting software, calculate the full job cost and produce professional quotations for our customers.
Once a job is won, you'll stay involved throughout the process, coordinating with the customer and production team to make sure everything runs smoothly and the job is delivered as required.
In short — you'll be involved from quote to completion.
What You'll Be Doing
- Reviewing customer drawings and preparing them for our quoting software
- Using nesting software to calculate material requirements and machine run times
- Calculating material, machining and associated job costs
- Preparing and submitting accurate, competitive quotations
- Liaising directly with customers throughout the quoting and production process
- Coordinating with the production team to ensure jobs progress smoothly
- Managing multiple jobs and priorities in a busy engineering environment
- Building strong relationships with customers and understanding their requirements
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware and technically minded, with good attention to detail.
You don't need to know everything from day one — full training will be provided — but you'll need to be confident using a computer, comfortable working with technical information and able to communicate effectively with both customers and colleagues.
Essential:
- Good PC skills, including Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to organise and prioritise your workload
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- A willingness to learn and develop
Desirable:
- Experience within the engineering or manufacturing sector
- Previous estimating experience
- Knowledge of CAD
- AutoCAD experience
- Experience within profile cutting, laser cutting or waterjet cutting
Why Join Jetcut?
This isn't a role where you'll simply produce quotes and pass them on.
You'll have the opportunity to learn the industry, understand the technical side of the work, build relationships with customers and take real ownership of jobs from enquiry through to production.
We offer full training and the opportunity to develop your knowledge and experience within a growing engineering business.
You'll also get an early finish every Friday — because nobody likes being stuck at work on a Friday afternoon.
Benefits
- £30,000 – £35,000 salary, depending on experience
- Monday–Thursday 8:00am–5:00pm
- Friday 8:00am–2:30pm
- Company pension
- Free parking
- On-site parking
- Full training provided
- Opportunity for career development
