Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support educators in fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children. This role is crucial in helping students achieve their academic goals while promoting their social and emotional development.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in the delivery of lessons and educational activities.
- Provide one-on-one support to students, particularly those with disabilities or special educational needs.
- Help create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and engagement.
- Support the assessment of student progress and contribute to the development of individual education plans (IEPs).
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to ensure a cohesive learning experience.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to special education.
- Mentor and tutor students as needed, providing additional support outside of regular classroom hours.
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience working with children in a school or childcare setting
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A current DBS certificate (on the update service)
- Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
Experience
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in an educational setting, is essential.
- Familiarity with special education practices and strategies for supporting students with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Experience in tutoring or mentoring roles will be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
- A background in working with individuals on the autism spectrum is beneficial but not mandatory.
