Sarah Wall and family have created a loving home environment in which to welcome your dog as their guest. Whether its just for the day or a sleepover, your dog will become one of the family. Set in 35 acres of Derbyshire countryside, The Gables is a smoke free and kennel free environment which will become a haven for your dog whenever you need a getaway. All dogs in our care live in our family home where we can provide 24 hour care and attention. Our cosy home with log fires in winter and underfloor heating will ensure your dog feels part of the family. There is also a livery yard of 23 horses on the site offering 5 star livery with fantastic facilities catering for happy hackers to competition horses.
We are searching for a groom to join our team and assist with all aspects of horse care. You will carry out day to day care of the horses and equipment along with feeding and care of our livery horses.
This is a level 3 position so it is vital that applicants have previous experience with horses and can confidently assist and manage other yard staff.
Duties will include but not limited to:
Care of horses and equipment
Managing and supervising other staff at the yard and the kennels
Mucking out
Feeding
Grooming
Supporting and assisting liveries
Assisting the running of the kennels
Care and preparation of livery horses
Assisting with and arranging visits from professionals such as vets, farriers and physiotherapists
Grooming at shows may be required
Yard maintenance
Customer service and dealing with clients
Various business related tasks may be required such as invoicing/account management.
Desired skills and qualities
Applicants MUST have previous experience with handling horses and dogs. These skills are essential and must be shown on application.
Enthusiastic and dedicated
Desired qualifications
GCSEs grades A-C/8-4 in English and maths or equivalent desirable but not essential
Applicants must either already hold level 2 qualification in Animal or Horse Care or have extensive previous experience with horses/dogs as this is a level 3 position.

Training
Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
The applicant will be working towards a Level 3 Animal Care Apprenticeship
The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
Things to consider
Applicants must be able to travel to work on time due to the workplace being a yard that’s based in more rural locations.
