Job Summary
Almond and Mellor is a specialist metal polishing company working exclusively with free-issue stainless steel across a wide range of project sizes, from small precision jobs to larger-scale contracts running concurrently. Our work spans multiple finish types and surface specifications, measured to a variety of Ra (surface roughness) values, requiring close attention to detail and consistency across every job. We are looking for a Production Manager to oversee our workflow and ensure quality and efficiency across all projects. Candidates with prior experience or knowledge in metal polishing, finishing, or fabrication will be at a distinct advantage, as familiarity with stainless steel handling, finish requirements, and industry processes will help them get up to speed quickly and contribute effectively from day one. You will oversee daily activities on the production floor, optimize processes for efficiency, and uphold the highest standards of quality and safety. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the production process, from raw material intake to finished goods output, polished to the correct finish
- Develop and implement production schedules that meet delivery deadlines while maximizing resource utilization
- Monitor production performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety awareness among team members
- Coordinate with quality assurance teams to maintain product standards and address any quality issues promptly
- Manage staffing levels, assign tasks effectively, and provide coaching to enhance team productivity and morale
- Maintain accurate production records, report on key performance indicators, and prepare operational reports for management
Qualifications
- Proven experience in stainless steel polishing, manufacturing or production management, with a strong understanding of production workflows and process optimization
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster collaboration
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving operational challenges
- Knowledge of safety regulations and quality standards relevant to manufacturing environments
- Effective communication skills for liaising across departments and reporting to senior management
- Technical proficiency with manufacturing software systems and data analysis tools is preferred
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
